If you're on a low income or finding it hard to pay your rent or bills, you might be able to claim benefits.

Claiming is easy. If you're not sure whether you qualify for benefits, get in touch with one of the organisations below. Their advice is free and it could save you money.

• If you are over 60 and would prefer to talk to someone who specialises in advising on issues specific to older people, contact your local Age Concern.

Do you struggle to pay energy and water bills?

If you can’t afford to heat your home properly, or pay your water service charges, you may be eligible for a grant.

• The Yorkshire Water Community Trust helps customers who are in serious debt and are behind with paying their water service charges. Download an information sheet or contact the Trust for more information.
• The British Gas Energy Trust provides grants to help people who are behind with their energy charges and other household bills. Read more about the grants, or contact the Trust for further information.
