Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) is committed to improving the lives of you our tenants and offer support to help improve your general feeling of wellbeing.

This includes help with maximising your income so that you will have more money in your pocket to manage your household budget. We have a specialist team of employees with a wide range of experience who can help you:

  • applying for Housing and Welfare Benefits – you may qualify for than you think;
  • accessing charitable or utility grants to help with rent arrears;
  • altering utility tariffs – getting you a better deal for Gas/Electric; or
  • help with opening a bank account and access to affordable credit.

There are many ways of getting involved in your community, from joining a tenants' or residents' group or participating in local events and even helping WDH and other organisations make decisions affecting the area where you live.

Health Inequality Caseworkers

WDH now have a team of five case workers who can help tenants and residents across the Wakefield district undergo lifestyle changes to improve their health and well being. Following referrals from various sources, each worker will meet clients on a one-to-one basis to address issues such as healthy eating, depression, alcohol, drug abuse, smoking cessation and many other issues, before referring them on to specialist agencies.
